Welcome to My Website

Four years ago, I was elected to the council with 74% of the vote. I am thankful for your support and confidence. The initial days on the council were a whirlwind of activity as I was immediately selected to serve as your vice mayor, and a year later, served as your mayor.

The city council and I have accomplished a lot in the last four years, from getting the Downtown Redevelopment started to making local government more accessible and easier for residents and business to get involved while maintaining our low crime rates.

In addition to my work on the council, I represent Sunnyvale, or Santa Clara County, on the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority, Santa Clara Valley Water District, League of California Cities, and the National League of Cities. My collaborative leadership style has been recognized, and coupled with my extensive transportation experience, has lead to an appointment on the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, which serves the nine bay area counties.

To serve my community is a high honor and a family tradition. I’ve also served the city as a planning commissioner and Leadership Sunnyvale as a member of the Board. Currently, I serve as a board member of the Northwest YMCA, am a member of the Sunnyvale Rotary Club, Historical Society and the local Chamber of Commerce.

My roots are in California, and the Santa Clara Valley has been my home since 1965. I was drawn to Sunnyvale because of its quality of life and I’m proud to say I’ve been a resident for over 18 years.

On this website, you can learn more about my campaign, upcoming events and how you can participate in the election process and be part of growing number of volunteers, supporters and contributors who comprise “Friends of Dean Chu.” Also included are a biographical sketch, accomplishments, positions, news items, and endorsements.

I look forward to seeing you on the campaign trail as I work toward election day—November 6, 2007.

Sincerely,
